HP Velotechnik recumbent electric tricycle
The company HP Velotechnik was founded by Paul Hollants and Daniel Pulvermüller in 1993. Its production facility is located in Kriftel near Frankfurt and employs 25 people (including four students) and manufactures approximately 1,700 recumbent bicycles a year, which makes them in European market leaders.
The reclining trikes are built individually on request and sold through specialized distributors. Recumbent bicycles are sold in Germany and Europe and an increasing number of them are exported to other more distant regions such as the USA, Australia and Japan.
HP Velotechnik has developed ten models of recumbent bikes that cover all kinds of classes, from everyday bicycles to runners and all models are available with powerful electric motors on request.
As students, the founders of the company Hollants and Pulvermüller were national champions with their "cabin trike" in the Association of German Engineer's 1992 JUTEC youth and technology competition.
This led to the first stone for its development, crossing the rewarding path that leads from a tiny garage laboratory to one of the most innovative bicycle companies in Germany.
In 2012, HP Velotechnik was again named one of the three best bicycle manufacturers in Germany by the VSF bicycle industry association.
HP Velotechnik presented at the International Eurobike fair the first electric double-suspension speed-controlled tricycle that reaches a speed of 45 km / h, and can be folded compactly for transport: The Scorpion fs 26 - S-Pedelec.
The growing demand for an efficient and fun alternative to mobility make this tricycle an interesting option to consider. It emphasizes the ergonomic position of the seat, where the user is completely suspended and his safety on the road.
The dynamic acceleration is achieved thanks to its low center of gravity and the position of the pilot in the reclined seat, together with the low resistance offered by the air thanks to the reclined position of the seat increases the efficiency and distance of the rechargeable battery, especially to high speeds.
High cornering stability is achieved thanks to the MacPherson adjustable independent suspension on the front axle, stabilizer system, full suspension and long wheelbase.
The 500-watt SwissDrive 500-cube Ir engine located on the rear wheel provides additional propulsion if desired. This engine gets its power from a rechargeable Li-Mn battery with a capacity of 530 Wh. It takes 4 hours to fully charge the battery from any outlet.
One of the best features of this reclining trike is the energy recovery function that implies that the engine works as a generator while braking by increasing the amount of energy recovery, much better solution than regenerative brakes that only recover 7% of a load total.
The tricycle comes with a standard start assist function, which drives the vehicle at a speed of up to 6 km / h at the touch of a button on the digital display, we call it "the legal accelerator" but it only drives us up to 6km / h and stops.
The 26-inch high-traction rear wheel allows efficient transmission of human / engine power to the road like never before seen on a double-suspension folding electric tricycle.
Hollants believes that the fast electric tricycle offers an additional safety benefit in terms of traffic: "At speeds of up to 45 km / h, the e-trike can circulate fluidly with traffic.
The wide and striking design of the tricycle makes other users take it more into account than they do with conventional bicycles and drivers show more respect.
The 'Bodylink' ergonomic hard shell reclined seat , regardless of the speed at which you travel, offers a relaxed sitting position. It is wonderful because it adjusts individually to the shape of the driver's back, and the seat distributes the weight of the body evenly. Cyclists can also choose the 'ErgoMesh' seat, which not only provides optimal ventilation for the back, but also offers more lateral support thanks to the improved design with reinforced seat, anatomically shaped lateral cushioning.
But that is not all. We also have the seat 'ErgoMesh XL. Specially developed for tall and heavy people, this seat is 5 cm wide; The backrest and seat are also 3 cm longer than the standard model. Both ErgoMesh versions are available in two seat heights.
It is also available to users smart accessories with which to carry all kinds of luggage. This is carried out in a luggage rack suspended in two suitcases with a total capacity of 25 kg.
The center of gravity is optimally balanced with the low luggage position, close to the cyclist's body and behind the seat.
The tricycle is also easy to transport : In just a couple of steps and in a matter of seconds, it can be folded being easily transportable, with dimensions of only 123 x 83 x 69 cm. An innovative self-locking folding hinge makes folding this tricycle a child's play.
With a total weight of 31 kg, the Scorpion fs 26 S-Pedelec can be used without the help of the engine if the lithium-ion battery is empty.
The tricycle also offers an additional advantage on the slopes unlike conventional electric bicycles, it stays on the road even at low speeds;
When it stops at traffic lights, the cyclist does not even have to lift his feet off the pedals.
The HP Velotechnik e-tricycle comes with a Shimano XT 27-speed chain shifter, hydraulically coupled Tektro Auriga E-Twin disc brakes, and a high-performance LED lighting system.
An attractive color scheme completes the sporty look of the tricycle.
If these are not to your liking, HP Velotechnik also offers customized versions of this model in line with specific color requests.
